D. Donny Darby: The French University gives its graduates opportunities to get education and training in three languages Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met with Dr. Donny Darby, President of the French University in Egypt, in the presence of Dr. Sharif Keshk, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, to follow up the latest updates on the new French University project in Egypt, at the ministry headquarters. At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized his full readiness to provide all means of cooperation and assistance to the University, in the framework of supporting and strengthening the relations between Egypt and France in the educational and research spheres. The minister affirmed the Egyptian government’s interest in the project of creating a new campus for the French University, and providing the necessary support for the success of the project, noting that the project began in January 2019 with the full support of the political leadership of the two countries, aiming to transform it into a research academy with an internationally distinguished international rating, and granting double scientific degrees, signifying that the project includes Qualifying the university with the latest scientific equipments; to be a kiss for students from the Middle East and Africa region, to support the African continent and transfer educational experiences to it through the university. As confirmed by Dr. Ayman Ashour said that the French University is part of the distinguished education system, given to the distinguished position of the French University on the map of university education, as a pillar of French Egyptian academic cooperation, citing the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education, the French University and the French Embassy in Egypt. The minister pointed out Egypt’s pride in French-Egyptian relations, citing the keenness of the Egyptian and French governments in developing the University to a global level, through partnership with French educational and research institutions, noting that the French University is one of the successful scientific faculties in Egypt, giving it shared scientific degrees. For his part, Darby emphasized his welcome for the permanent cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education in the educational, research and scientific fields, and providing the necessary support for the implementation of cooperation agreements between the French University in Egypt and various French universities in France. Darby noted that the university gives its graduates unique opportunities to receive high-level education and training in three languages “Arabic, English and French,” which are among the most important languages in the world, which qualifies its graduates for outstanding jobs in specialties (engineering, business management, trade and languages). It is noteworthy that the French University in Egypt was established in 2002 as a non-profit private university, the organizational structure of the University after its re-establishment consists of educational and research departments, a center for technology transfer and analysis, a department of continuing education, general services of the University administration, and the University practices in the first phase until 2030 its academic activities in areas (Architecture, urban planning, energy, mechanics, IT, applied languages, management and regulation, mathematics and applied information and management sciences, humanities and social sciences). The university grants joint scientific degrees, double national degrees (Egyptian and French) within the framework of “Operation Bologna”, in accordance with the European accredited hours system, and is supervised by the university and French partner institutions.
