For her part, Mrs / Amy Lawrenceson – Ambassador of New Zealand in Cairo – praised the meeting held by her and the Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority and the role of the Violets as a service monitoring body in raising levels of food safety, security and the competitiveness of the Egyptian food industries in foreign markets.

Dr. Rasha Jalal – Director-General of the Food Registration and Licensing Administration of the National Food Safety Authority – also participated in an extensive meeting with the Food Division of the Food Industry Chamber in the presence of a large number of manufacturers and producing companies members of the Chamber, and discussed the second meeting For the division, the regulated guidelines for the registration and distribution of special foods in light of National Food Safety Authority Resolution No. 1 of 2017 and Supplementary Resolution No. 13 of 2021.

The General Administration for Factory Control has issued 95 monitoring orders for food factories in all governorates of the Republic, while the number of factories registered with the National Food Safety Authority in the second week of April reached 4 plants, and 4 factories met the requirements of the National Food Safety Board and are being listed to the white list, and the issuance of supply certificate has been updated School feeding on 12th April.

The General Food Administration registered 70 particular food products during the past week.

Regarding the administration of oversight of stations and filling centers, the number of inspection and approval visits reached 46, with 25 inspection visits and 21 inspection visits, including sorting and packing stations Filling centers and primary supplier, the number of facilities registered by the Authority for this week reached 2 primary suppliers, and 1 filling station met the requirements of the National Food Safety Authority and is being white listed.

Regarding the General Administration of Exports, the number of food messages issued has reached 3750 messages with a total of 165125 tons.

According to the General Administration of Food Imports, the number of food messages received reached 1335 messages with a total of 240510 tons, 15 of which were rejected.

In the context of the National Food Safety Authority’s keenness to monitor the performance and workflow in various branches of the authority, Dr. Tariq Houbi, the head of the board, has formed a team of secretaries of the General Administration of Food Imports, to hold one-week training sessions to improve the performance of the board’s work team in Damietta Port. Regarding the management of complaints in the body, a total number of complaints received to the body reached 51 complaints, submitted to the body from different complaint receivers (E-portal of the Unified Government Complaints System – Cabinet) – Consumer Protection Device, this in addition to the complaints submitted directly to the body, 46 complaints were completed, 5 complaints are being investigated.

The Complaints Management Team also launched campaigns on 128 establishments in all governorates of the Republic selling Eid sweets products to verify the validity of the products offered, campaigns were also launched on 32 establishments selling Kunafa and Qatayef and samples were withdrawn to verify their validity.

Regarding the General Administration for Laboratory Affairs, the administration has prepared the technical reports for a number of 1766 samples of imported food shipments, 482 samples of ready-to-export food, 125 samples of local food, as well as 136 samples of special food products.

For the General Massacre Administration, the administration made 6 inspection visits, 1 announced visit, 5 unannounced visits, and 15 export permits for animal packaging were issued to EU countries. Regarding oversight management activities of commercial chains last week, 88 monitoring commissions were carried out for branches of commercial chains establishments to ensure that these establishments meet food safety requirements, in a number of provinces of the republic.

The number of establishments registered with the Department of Commercial Chain Control over the past week was 8 branches, bringing the number of chains registered with the department to date 1241 branches for 45 chain chains.

55 facilities were also restricted in preparation of directing surveillance missions during the coming period in the governorates of Alexandria, Assiut, Ismailia, Dakahlia, Minya, Damietta, Qalyoubia, and North Sinai.

Around the Strategic Merchandise Management activities, the administration has conducted 11 advertised inspection visits of rice factories, as well as recorded 2 rice bats.

The Mobile Food Unit Administration conducted 19 inspections on food units, 4 mobile food units registered, 1 food unit met the requirements of the National Food Safety Authority and is being whitelisted.

Regarding the management of registration and licensing of public stores, 5923 public licensing applications were checked through the electronic system and identification of food activities orders, as well as registration 2184 establishments through the public shop electronic system so far, the management has made 444 inspections, and 36 stores have met the requirements of the food trading license.

The Tourism Facilities Licensing and Oversight Department made 15 visits last week, including patrolling works and multi-provinces license review. In fact, 13 visits to hotels, 2 visits to restaurants, and the number of facilities registered with the National Food Safety Authority reached 1 hotel.

The Storage Oversight Department has conducted 10 warehouse oversight orders, and 1 storage facility has been registered bringing the total number of storage facilities registered with the body to 750 so far.

Regarding the management of dairy suppliers, 11 surveillance operations have been made on mahalabs and dairy collection centers in a number of governorates, and 1 mahalab has been registered to make the total number of dairy supplier facilities registered with the National Food Safety Authority 981, divided into 237 mahalab and 744 dairy collection centers.
