نحتفل اليوم بالذكرى الـ121 على افتتاح المتحف المصري بالتحرير، والذي يُعد أقدم متحف أثري في الشرق الأوسط، ويضم آلاف القطع الأثرية الهامة، من بينها لوحة الملك نعرمر، ومجموعة من التماثيل والقطع الأثرية لملوك عصر بناة الأهرام، والمجموعة الجنائزية ليويا وتويا جديَّ الملك إخناتون، وكنوز تانيس، ومجموعة كبيرة من مومياوات الحيوانات، وأوراق البردي والتوابيت وحُلي من مختلف العصور المصرية.
The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, opened in 1902, is celebrating, today, its 121st anniversary as the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East.
Home to thousands of priceless Egyptian artefacts, it houses the largest collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world, including the famous Narmer Palette, royal statuary and artefacts from the age of the pyramid builders, the funerary collection of Yuya and Thuya, the grandparents of King Akhenaten, the treasures of Tanis, an extensive range of animal mummies, papyri, coffins and jewellery from different periods.
