Youth, ICT Ministers Open First DEBI Job Fair in Gezira Youth Center

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and the Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy have opened the first job fair organized within the framework of Digital Egypt Builders Initiative (DEBI) for DEBI students and graduates.

The Initiative has been launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to grant a professional Master’s degree in high-tech disciplines.

DEBI Job Fair is held for two days under the auspices of the ICT Minister in the civil education building at Gezira Youth Center, affiliated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Over 40 local and global companies from several industries, including ICT and banks, participated in the event, offering approximately 450 job opportunities.

The event includes holding sessions to discuss the latest ICT developments, and the future of the labor market within the framework of achieving digital transformation.

Talaat underscored that DEBI is one of the most prominent initiatives launched by MCIT to train top graduates and grant them professional Master’s degrees from world-class universities. Furthermore, DEBI students receive hands-on training from major ICT companies. They are also trained in soft and language skills to equip young people with the most in-demand skills qualifying them to compete effectively in the local and international labor market.

The ICT Minister indicated that DEBI Job Fair features over 40 major companies specialized in various ICTs and banking to offer approximately 450 decent job opportunities for young people. He explained that the Fair comes as part of MCIT keenness to organize job fairs and link training to creating job opportunities for DEBI graduates.

Talaat emphasized that MCIT is implementing more initiatives to build youth’s digital capacities based on their different specializations and academic backgrounds, and create more job opportunities. He pointed to MCIT collaboration with the Ministry of Youth in hosting DEBI activities at Gezira Youth Center.

For his part, Sobhy appreciated MCIT constructive development initiatives serving society, including DEBI and the Job Fair organized to create numerous job opportunities for youth and graduates in different industries, with the participation of 40 local and global companies, offering about 450 job opportunities.

The Minister of Youth highlighted that the Ministry of Youth is committed to developing youth capabilities, qualifying them for the requirements of the labor market, and organizing job fairs for the private sector’s institutions in youth and sports facilities in various governorates nationwide, in cooperation with the concerned agencies and institutions.

Sobhy added that the credibility of the job opportunities available at the job fairs is being verified and the numbers of youth applying for the job opportunities announced at the Fair are being counted, highlighting the seriousness of the participating companies and institutions and the ongoing cooperation in the upcoming job fairs. He invited youth to attend DEBI job fairs and apply for the job opportunities according to their scientific specializations.

Sobhy referred to the keenness of the Ministry of Youth to collaborate and coordinate with different concerned state agencies to implement the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on empowering youth in various fields, foremost of which is to create job opportunities for youth and upskill their capabilities in accordance with the requirements of the labor market.

Furthermore, the Advisor to the ICT Minister for Technological Talents Hoda Baraka indicated that DEBI aims to prepare qualified and skilled youth to support digital transformation in Egypt. She stated that the Fair is attended by over 400 DEBI students and graduates from various tech tracks to apply for the job opportunities offered by global and local entities and companies, banks, and multidisciplinary companies.

Baraka also stated that the Fair includes activities during which representatives of international and local companies share their different experiences. She noted that the class of 2021 has graduated and the class of 2022 will graduate within the coming days.

The Fair was attended by numerous agencies and companies, including eFinance, Ericsson, Microsoft Corporation, Vodafone, Etisalat, Cisco, Raya, Brightskies, IBM, VMware, Delta Engineering Systems, Digital Hub, WAKEB, IPMagiX, Arab African International Bank (AAIB), Commercial International Bank (CIB), Applied Innovation Center (AIC), and the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).

It is noteworthy that DEBI is a free scholarship launched by MCIT to grant a professional Master’s degree in one of the following majors: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI); Cybersecurity; Robotics and Automation; Digital Arts; and Fintech, in collaboration with top-notch international universities.

MCIT, within DEBI, collaborates with several local and global companies specializing in ICT to help learners gain hands-on experience, as well as with leading companies and institutions to develop the students’ leadership, soft, and language skills.
