The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Swedish State Secretary to Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Håkan Jevrell, on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, in Barcelona, Spain. The Ambassador of Sweden to Spain Teppo Tauriainen joined the meeting.
They explored methods to attract Swedish investments to Egypt’s ICT sector and enhance cooperation in digital capacity-building and cybersecurity. Reference was made to Swedish companies operating within Egypt’s ICT market. Additionally, the discussion touched upon leveraging Egyptian talent for the implementation of Swedish projects within the ICT sector. The meeting was attended by the Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt Mohamed Nasr.
Moreover, the ICT Minister held a meeting with the Group Chief Executive of Accenture Operations Yusuf Tayob. Accenture is a leading global consulting, strategy, technology, operations, and professional services company, serving clients across more than 120 countries. It has offices, advanced technology centers, and innovation hubs in 200+ cities across 51 countries.
The meeting discussed Egypt’s efforts to attract multinationals and foster collaboration in the offshoring industry within the framework of the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022-2026.
In a similar vein, Talaat met with the CEO and Managing Director of Tejas Networks Anand Athreya. Tejas is an Indian global broadband, optical, and wireless networking company.
They explored the company’s plans and opportunities for cooperation in telecommunication equipment manufacturing and digital capacity-building. The meeting was joined by Nasr, the Vice President for Technical Affairs at Telecom Egypt Mohamed Al Fowey, and the Co-Founder, Executive Director, and Chief Operating Officer at Tejas Arnob Roy.
The Director of the Central Department of International Relations at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Samah Aziz attended the meetings.
At MWC 2024, the ICT Minister participated in the keynote session “Open Gateway – The Art of What’s Possible.” It addressed ICT advancements, 5G technologies, generative AI, interconnected instruments and applications with AI, the Industrial Internet of Things, visions for shaping a digital future, and connectivity. Industry leaders worldwide participated in the session.

It brings together decision-makers, senior government officials, experts, representatives of international organizations, major mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology specialists, and industry leaders worldwide.
