Huawei Egypt, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT)represented by Digital Egypt Builders Initiative (DEBI)and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has celebrated the graduation of a new batch of students participating in the eighth round of “Seeds for The Future” Program.
DEBI team has won in the “Tech4Good” competition of the Program, held to search for means of adopting ICT skills to face contemporary social challenges. The team presented a smart application to improve the daily life of patients with Alzheimer’s disease to help in their daily activities and ensure their safety, and alarm patients’ companions clearly to avoid potential risks, using the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cloud computing.
A group of outstanding students from Egyptian universities participating in the Huawei ICT Competition, a group of DEBI students, and a group of students from the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) participated in this year’s round, in an open environment that enables online learning.
Launched in Egypt in 2015, “Seeds for The Future” program was aimed at upskilling youth in ICT as well as sharing knowledge and culture nationally, regionally, and internationally. It also aimed at raising awareness regarding the technology sector, honing the interest of young technology specialists to shape future development by using modern technologies.
The program is within the framework of empowering youth by upskilling them, building their digital capabilities, and qualifying them for fulfilling the requirements of the labor market. This is in addition to promoting innovation and future thinking methodology among young people, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Huawei provided participating youth with practical training materials in AI, cloud computing, IoT, cybersecurity, and Fifth Generation (5G) technology. This is in addition to providing programs to foster self-development and leadership skills to empower youth to face challenges, by enhancing teamwork among students of different countries, as well as promoting cultural and knowledge exchange activities, including getting acquainted with Chinese culture and arts.
Launched in 2008, Seeds for The Future is Huawei’s flagship global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to develop ICT talents. The Program was implemented in 137 countries and regions and was joined by more than 12,000 students from over 500 universities. More than three million youth are to benefit from the Program, with Huawei’s investment of more than $150 million.
