The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and the Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy have witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA). The aim is to develop the telecommunication infrastructure in the Ministry of Youth’s lands and facilities in villages targeted under the Decent Life initiative across various governorates. This will be accomplished through collaboration with licensed companies regulated by NTRA.

The protocol was signed by NTRA Executive President Hossam El-Gamal, and Senior Undersecretary and Head of the Youth Sector at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Ismail Al-Far.

The collaboration aims to improve telecommunications services for citizens engaged in youth and sports activities within youth centers affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. These centers are either established or developed under the Decent Life initiative across all governorates.

In his remarks, the ICT Minister emphasized that the cooperation is part of the concerted efforts of all state sectors to deliver decent services to citizens, under the umbrella of Decent Lifethe national project of developing the Egyptian countryside. He emphasized that telecom services play a crucial role in the foundation of digital transformation, and this, in turn, will contribute significantly to boosting economic growth and attaining community development.

Talaat highlighted that the cooperation demonstrates the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s (MCIT) efforts to enhance the information infrastructure in villages targeted under Decent Life. These efforts involve implementing projects for high-speed Internet, improving telecom services, developing post offices, and promoting digital literacy.

For his part, Sobhy emphasized the Ministry of Youth’s commitment to enhancing all public services through collaboration with relevant authorities and ministries. He highlighted the utilization of the Ministry’s assets, including youth and sports facilities, across different governorates nationwide. Sobhy pointed out the Ministry of Youth’s strategy in transforming its facilities, particularly youth centers, into comprehensive community service centers.

The Minister of Youth and Sports expressed appreciation for the productive collaboration with MCIT. He emphasized the efforts made to provide a comprehensive range of services in alignment with the national policy aimed at enhancing public services and achieving sustainable development across various sectors, under the guidance of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

Under the protocol, either NTRA or one of the licensed companies responsible for constructing and operating the telecom infrastructure will be tasked with its development. They will take all necessary measures to uphold a high-quality service within youth centers situated in Decent Life villages, employing the latest technologies in this field. The project will be carried out in adherence to safety rules and relevant laws and regulations, as stipulated in the tripartite protocol signed by MCIT, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Health and Population.
