Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, and Minister of Public Business Sector, Mahmoud Esmat, recently conducted an extensive meeting to oversee the progress of project-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation within the holding companies and their subsidiaries at the Ministry of Public Business Sector.
This meeting aligns with the broader national policy aimed at bolstering digital transformation and offering ongoing training, which is viewed as a sustained and integral process across various sectors and domains. These national endeavors are geared towards enhancing efficiency, optimizing performance, managing costs, increasing productivity, and empowering the workforce to effectively adapt to the advancements in modern science and technology. The ultimate goal is to augment income levels and elevate living standards.
The meeting delved into the key accomplishments of the project and assessed the current status of the digital transformation project within both the holding companies and its subsidiaries operating under the Ministry of Public Business Sector. Key points of discussion encompassed the status of contracts, the selection of qualified professionals for system operation and management, the resolution of administrative challenges, and the initiation of project implementation across both financial and administrative dimensions.
Both parties engaged in a detailed discussion concerning the project’s infrastructure status. They also assessed the challenges it faces, explored potential solutions, and devised strategies to overcome any technical obstacles that might hinder the project’s successful completion.
During the meeting, the ICT Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Ministry of Public Business Sector have cooperated to implement the ERP project within the holding companies and its subsidiaries at the Ministry of Public Business Sector. This collaboration is part of the concerted efforts among different sectors of the state to achieve digital transformation and build Digital Egypt. He explained that the cooperation between the two ministries aims to furnish the requisite technical support to achieve digital transformation within the holding companies and its subsidiaries at the Ministry of Public Business Sector.
Talaat indicated that MCIT will provide the training programs necessary to build digital capacities according to the standards set by the companies to support them with a highly qualified talent pool. A series of executive meetings will be held with the companies implementing the project to follow up on the implementation status and timelines of the project to foster cooperation between the two sides, the ICT Minister added.
Esmat, on his part, highlighted the significance of the project and and its collaborative implementation with MCIT, within the framework of attaining the national governance and digital transformation strategy, which is promoted by the Ministry of Public Business Sector to boost and develop the affiliated companies. He pointed out that the digital transformation process has become an integral part of the investment opportunities approved within the framework of the State Ownership Policy Document. Furthermore, the Document is being promoted to attract local and foreign investments and create new investment opportunities for the private sector. This, in turn, facilitates the state’s withdrawal from certain sectors while increasing investment in others.
Esmat referred to the significance of the project in cutting expenses, reducing operating costs, and reforming the financial and administrative ecosystems of the companies. He added that this would be positively reflected on performance indicators and business outcomes. Esmat also declared that the project will not only be limited to the productive and industrial sectors, but also to the companies-owned assets to better manage and leverage their economic revenues.
The meeting was attended by the Advisor to the ICT Minister for Technological Talents Hoda Baraka, the Advisor of Technology Development Hesham Farouk, and the Director of the General Department of Projects Ahmed Anwar from MCIT.
From the Ministry of Public Business Sector, Assistant Minister of Public Business Sector for Project Affairs Rasha Omar, Legal Advisor to the Minister of Public Business Sector Abdel Rahman Shatla, Advisor to the Minister of Public Business Sector for Digital Transformation Nady Nashed, and Director of Systems and Information Technology Hani Issawi attended the meeting.
