The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Serbian Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanović, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit (WGS) 2024 in Dubai. They discussed fostering ICT cooperation between Egypt and Serbia.
During the meeting, Talaat highlighted the efforts made to strengthen Egypt’s competitiveness in IT offshoring services in line with the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022-2026. He underlined that Egypt has an expansive talent pool capable of offering outsourcing and offshoring services, which can be leveraged to export digital services to Serbian IT companies, enabling them to serve customers across diverse markets.
The meeting delved into the different forms of support available to IT firms in the Egyptian market, which Serbian companies can capitalize on to establish regional centers of excellence in Egypt. These include call centers and IT service centers focusing on software development, web and mobile application development, and software testing, catering to the Middle East, Africa, and the US markets.
The two ministers discussed prospects of cooperation and knowledge transfer in e-game development, recognized as one of the most advanced industries in Serbia.
Concluding the meeting, the two sides agreed to formalize Egypt-Serbia cooperation in the ICT sector through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), scheduled to take place in the near future.
The meeting was attended by the Serbian Special Advisor to the Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dragana Bećić, the CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed Elzaher, and the Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El-Guindy.
