The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has opened the new highly equipped Smart Village Post Office at Egypt Post premises in Smart Village. The ICT Minister was accompanied by Egypt Post Chairman Sherif Farouk.
The new post office was equipped with the latest technological systems and solutions to provide all financial, postal, and government services and Digital Egypt services to citizens.
Talaat emphasized that opening the new post office in Smart Village comes within the vision of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) for developing Egypt Post and expanding post offices nationwide by establishing new post offices highly equipped with the latest technologies to provide decent services to citizens.
Talaat stated that along with establishing new post offices in places that require the provision of postal services, mobile post vehicles have been introduced to be deployed in peak times, such as times of pension disbursement. Furthermore, postal kiosks have been also established, he added.
Talaat referred to the role of Egypt Post in providing necessary services for Egyptian citizens. Post offices have become an essential outlet for providing various government, postal and financial services.
For his part, Farouk explained that opening the Smart Village Post Offices comes as part of implementing the strategic plan of Egypt Post. The plan includes the establishment of developed post offices that meet the customer’s needs, he stated.
Farouk pointed out that the Smart Village Post Office has a smart dynamic design through which environmentally friendly and energy-saving systems and mechanisms are adopted. The office features colors that reflect state-of-the-art design while preserving the characteristics of Egypt Post. The new Post Office is equipped with the latest technological systems and smart solutions to create an ideal work environment and provide a unique experience for customers.
The Smart Village Post Office spans 400 square meters and has three windows equipped to provide all postal and Digital Egypt services. It is equipped with two Points of Sale (POS) machines and two Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs), which act as an independent post office that provide all financial, non-financial, and government services to citizens.
The ITM supports Braille and voice recognition to enable visually impaired people to benefit from the services. It contains an earphone, loudspeaker, and camera recorder that allows customers to communicate immediately with customer service agents for inquiries and transactions. The ITM also includes ID card readers and signature scanners. This is in addition to issuing e-cards as non-financial services, as well as providing services that require verification of beneficiary identification.
It is noteworthy that Egypt Post provides many e-government services. Through post offices, citizens can pay traffic fines, obtain birth and family registration and marriage, divorce and death certificates; renew their National IDs, pay electricity, water and gas bills, and obtain all other financial and postal services.
