The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and the Governor of Cairo Khaled Abdel Aal inaugurated today the new Amireya Post Building, which includes a post office and a distribution and logistics center. Additionally, they unveiled the upgraded and technologically advanced Mokattam Post Office. They were joined by Egypt Post Chairperson Sherif Farouk.

The two offices provide all types of government, postal and banking services, as well as Digital Egypt services. These include pension disbursement, real estate registration, traffic fine payment, checking accounts, domestic and international remittances, mail, parcels, express mail, utility bill payment (electricity, water, and gas), landline bill payment, and postal savings.

In his remarks, the ICT Minister highlighted that the two openings are part of a series of openings for new and enhanced post offices nationwide. This initiative aligns with the vision of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to modernize Egypt Post, expand its network, and enrich its services portfolio in accordance with the Digital Egypt strategy, as well as meeting citizens’ requirements and keeping pace with global technological advancements.

He further elaborated that over the past five years, more than 700 new postal service offices have been introduced, comprising post offices, postal kiosks, and mobile post offices. This expansion has resulted in a total of over 4,600 postal outlets nationwide, with more than 3,950 of them being upgraded and developed.

Talaat announced that Egypt Post will be installing approximately 1,000 new ATMs nationwide by next June, increasing the total number of ATMs within the postal network to 2,800. This effort aims to enhance the accessibility of financial services for citizens and pensioners.

For his part, Farouk emphasized that the inauguration of the two offices is a vital component of Egypt Post’s comprehensive strategic development plan. This plan entails the establishment of new post offices, as well as the enhancement and modernization of existing ones. The overarching goal is to achieve a significant improvement in the quality of services offered to citizens, ensuring that every individual can access services in a dignified, convenient, and efficient manner. This approach is tailored to meet the needs of Egyptian citizens nationwide, leveraging cutting-edge technological systems and solutions, along with a workforce trained to the highest professional standards, to guarantee the effectiveness and excellence of all citizen-facing services.

It’s worth noting that there are approximately 112 post offices in the East Cairo area, with 103 offices already developed, achieving a completion rate of 92%. Efforts are currently underway to complete the development of the remaining offices. Meanwhile, in South Cairo, there are 54 post offices, out of which 49 have been developed, reaching an 89% completion rate. Work is ongoing to complete the development of the remaining post offices in the area.

The opening of the new Amireya Post Building was attended by the Undersecretary of the ICT Committee in the House of Representatives Martha Mahrous.
