The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis, in the presence of the Ambassador of Egypt to Denmark and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Lithuania Karim Sherif, and Ambassador of Lithuania to Egypt Artūras Gailiūnas.
They discussed strengthening collaboration in ICT and attracting Lithuanian investments to the Egyptian ICT sector. They also explored cooperation opportunities in the telecom infrastructure field and the exchange of expertise to unlock the opportunities that IT offers. Collaboration between Egypt Post and its Lithuanian counterpart in exchanging postal services under the May 2023 agreement was highlighted during the meeting, as well.
Egypt is keen to establish cooperation and partnerships, exchange expertise, and adopt best practices in the ICT industry, remarked the ICT Minister. He said he looked forward to enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Lithuania in that industry. Talaat also explained the developments in the Egyptian ICT sector and the efforts made to create an investment-conducive climate.
For his part, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister hoped for more cooperation with Egypt in ICT areas, particularly capacity building and cybersecurity, among others.
The outcomes of the ICT Minister’s visit to Lithuania in August 2022 were highlighted at the meeting. During the visit, Talaat held meetings with ministers and officials from the government and private sector to discuss opportunities for collaboration in digital transformation, capacity building, cybersecurity, and the use of emerging technologies and AI to develop innovative solutions for the public sector.
The two sides agreed to pursue bilateral and multilateral cooperation in relevant areas.
