EUI Celebrates First Graduates of Automotive Embedded Software Development Program within EME

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has delivered an address at the graduation ceremony of batch one of the Automotive Embedded Software Development training program as part of the Egypt Makes Electronics (EME) presidential initiative. The event was hosted by Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) at its campus in Knowledge City, New Administrative Capital.

Talaat emphasized that well-trained young individuals represent one of Egypt’s most notable competitive advantages in the electronics industry. This factor stands out as a key driver attracting international companies to set up shop in Egypt, particularly for exporting services related to embedded software, electronic design, and other high-value specializations.

In his address, the ICT Minister outlined the substantial investments and scientific and skill capabilities necessary for the electronics industry. He emphasized that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is dedicated to preparing young individuals for the workforce in this industry through EME. The Ministry is actively engaged in equipping the youth with both technical and personal skills to bolster their competitive edge in regional and global job marketplaces. A particular emphasis is placed on nurturing talents in automotive embedded software development, a sought-after specialization in the global employment landscape.

Talaat highlighted the establishment of the Imhotep Center in Knowledge City, housing companies specializing in electronic design and embedded software. He clarified that situating the center next to EUI is intended to foster collaboration between academia, including faculty, students, and graduates, and international companies operating in Egypt within this field. This synergy aims to empower young Egyptians by integrating both scientific knowledge and practical experiences.

At the ceremony, the ICT Minister handed over certificates to graduates of the training program.

In her comments, EUI President Reem Bahgat conveyed her contentment with EUI hosting the Automotive Embedded Software Development program under EME. She shared her delight at witnessing the graduation of the first batch of this program funded by MCIT.

The inaugural batch comprised university graduates from the Classes of 2019-2023, hailing from various departments such as communications, electronics, computers, and mechatronics within the faculty of engineering, the faculty of computers and information, and the faculty of science (computer department) at different universities nationwide.

Bahgat detailed that EUI has leveraged all its resources to refine the skills of participants in this crucial training program, conducted over a three-month period at its campus in Knowledge City, which boasts attractive and competitive technological and economic advantages. She highlighted that the City serves as a conducive environment for training and business activities for investors and companies, featuring the finest ICT infrastructure, a strategic location, and advanced technological capabilities.

EUI is dedicated to realizing the goals outlined in Egypt Vision 2030 by redoubling efforts, staying abreast of future developments, and cultivating a robust technology sector that can capitalize on Egypt’s competitive advantages, Bahgat highlighted. This, in turn, aims to elevate the sector’s contribution to the GDP and diversify the economy for sustainable development. She underscored that EME plays a pivotal role in nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship, contributing to these overarching objectives.

The director of the EME program at EUI Iman Ashour shared that the University accommodated program participants for an intensive three-month period (five days a week, seven hours a day) at its campus in Knowledge Cityan emerging hub for electronics manufacturing and home to industry partners.

Ashour further noted that 69 graduates were awarded scholarships for qualification and training, positioning them for rewarding opportunities in the field of automotive embedded systemsa highly sought-after domain in both global and local markets. The program is executed in collaboration with six prominent automotive manufacturers, she highlighted.

The ceremony was attended by the Advisor to the ICT Minister for Technology Innovation, Electronics Industry, and Training Hossam Osman, officials from MCIT, deans of faculties and professors at EUI, and representatives of electronics and automotive manufacturers.
