Today’s meeting of the Global Waste Initiative 50 by 2050 Task Force saw the official launch of the COP27 Presidency initiative aimed at expanding sustainable waste management infrastructure throughout Africa, and increasing the continent’s recycling of solid municipal waste to 50% by 2050.
H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad spoke at the event, applauding the joint efforts of involved stakeholders in developing the initiative, and encouraged governments to sign onto the initiative to align waste management systems with national investment plans and NDCs. She highlighted the need for significant financial resources to be allocated towards the lofty goals set out in the initiative and encouraged the private sector to take part in the investments, capacity building, and knowledge share that will be required to achieve the program’s aims.

ووجهت الدكتورة ياسمين فؤاد، وزيرة البيئة، الدعوة لكافة الأطراف الفاعلة للتعاون معًا في عملية تأمين تمويل العمل المناخي وبناء القدرات والتكنولوجيا ونقل المعرفة، لتسريع عملية تطوير أنظمة إدارة المخلفات.
