Biodiversity Day opened with a high-level panel discussion of distinguished climate leaders who set an ambitious agenda for the day ahead. The panel focused on the risks associated with biodiversity loss, a phenomenon that is exacerbated by climate change and is both affected by and aggravates ecosystem degradation. Leaders called for urgent action on preserving and regenerating the Earth’s biodiversity and signaled their support for a variety of solutions including nature-based and locally-informed practices to be scaled and supported by international policy and financial mechanisms.
