COP27 Biodiversity Day comes to a close with a reflection on the day’s events which included illuminating panels on coral reef protection, mangrove reforestation, and prevention of coastal erosion. The panelists applauded the efforts of the international community in committing climate finance for nature-based solutions informed by local community knowledge and the advancement of implementable initiatives to restore our ecosystems through mitigation and adaptation measures. The conversation then turned to the remaining negotiations at COP27 and the road ahead to the Biodiversity COP15, where accelerated action on preserving biodiverse ecosystems will take center stage.
