وأوضح الدكتور مصطفى وزيري أن أعمال التغليف والتدعيم الخاصة بجسم المركب تسير طبقاً للمعايير العلمية المتبعة في نقل الآثار، ووفقاً للجدول الزمني المخصص لها، كما يقوم فريق الترميم بأعمال التعقيم الشامل لجسم المركب قبل أعمال التدعيم بما يضمن سلامة وتأمين أجزاء المركب أثناء عملية النقل، هذا بالاضافة إلى استخدام مواد خالية من الحموضة في عملية التغليف.
رافق الأمين العام للمجلس الأعلى للآثار أثناء الزيارة الدكتور الطيب عباس مساعد وزير السياحة والآثار للشئون الأثرية بالمتحف المصري الكبير، والدكتور عيسى زيدان مدير عام الترميم ونقل الآثار بالمتحف المصري الكبير، والأستاذ اشرف محي الدين مدير منطقة آثار الهرم.
جدير بالذكر أنه تم اكتشاف مركب خوفو الأولى في مايو عام ١٩٥٤ على يد المهندس كمال الملاح، ويعد هذا الاكتشاف واحد من أهم الاكتشافات الأثرية الفريدة الخاصة بالملك خوفو وقام المرمم المصري أحمد يوسف بترميم وإعاده تركيب المركب.
Today, Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, followed up on the progress of work in the process of the transportation of the first Solar Boat (Khufu boat) from its display site at the Khufu Boat Museum in the Pyramid Antiquities Area to its new display place at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Dr. Waziri explained that the packaging and reinforcement work on the body of the boat is conducted in accordance with scientific international standards used in the transfer of antiquities, and in according to the set schedules. He added that the restoration team performs the comprehensive cleansing of the body of the boat before the reinforcement work taking very good care of the safety and security of the parts of the boat during the transfer, in addition to the use of acid-free materials in the packaging process.
During the visit, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities was accompanied by Dr. Tayeb Abbas, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Archaeological Affairs of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Dr. Issa Zidan, Director General of Restoration and Antiquities Transfer at the Grand Egyptian Museum, and Professor Ashraf Mohieddin, Director of the Pyramid Antiquities Area.
The first Khufu solar boat was discovered in May 1954 by Engineer Kamal al-Mallah, which is considered one of the most unique archaeological discoveries of King Khufu, and Egyptian restorer Ahmed Youssef restored and rebuilt the boat.
