أخيرًا وليس آخرًا، حجر رشيد الشهير، مصدر الإلهام لحملة ٢٠٠ عام علم مصريات.

اكتشفه أحد ضباط الحملة الفرنسية بمصر بقيادة نابليون بونابارت.

يُعد الحجر أحد أهم الاكتشافات الأثرية المصرية، فهو المصدر الرئيسي لفك رموز اللغة المصرية القديمة وتأسيس علم المصريات، منذ أن تمت قراءة نصوصه، التي كُتبت بثلاث خطوط الهيروغليفية والديموطيقية واليونانية، على يد العالم الفرنسي شامبليون.

Last but not least is the famous Rosetta Stone and the inspiration behind our 200 Years Egyptology campaign.

Discovered by French troops during Napoleon’s expedition, the stone can be described as a decree on which three languages can be found: hieroglyphs, demotic and Greek, representing three translations of a single tex.

It was deciphered by Champollion on this day 200 years ago, accelerating understanding of ancient Egyptian script and culture and the development of Egyptology as a scientific field.
